After reading the articles about architectural designs for the rebuilding of Notre Dame, what do you think the end result should be?  Should it replicate what the building looked like pre-fire, or should this be seen as an opportunity to introduce  references to contemporary 21st century design theory and cultural issues?  What are some of the pros and cons of an updated vision versus a straightforward restoration of what was lost?  Keep in mind that medieval cathedrals often took centuries to build and so were always envisioned as organic complexes.What is the connneciton with the course?
