Racial Intolerance: “Through the Eyes of My
Mulatto Daughter”
In her novel, Through
the Eyes of My Mulatto Daughter Michele Waters writes a story about an
interracial family that experienced dysfunction as a result of the old southern
culture. Marylyn black while her husband, Richard, is white: Marylyn feels hate
as a result of being excluded from family affairs. Brittany grows up witnessing
this hatred between her grandfather and her mother. Giving her account of
events, Brittany cites that she has been inspired to perceive life in a more
independent and untrusting way specifically to the white communities. The
author introduces different characters who have significantly impacted the life
of Brittany from the time she lost her brother to managing Ebony’s Eyes Home.
The book is story of an interracial family who is
confronted with the hardships of old southern white living. Brittany who is a
blended little girl of Richard and Marylyn has grown up to witness firsthand
the dreadful occasions her mom has needed to confront by being coupled to a
white man. The occasions that have sought all through her young grown-up life
have formed her into a free and untrusting individual of the white race. The
relationship which united Brittney Adams' folks was of anything other than
comfort. Richard Adams wedded Marilyn at once in America where Black individuals
were beaten for amusement in a 1960s Alabama. Being a product of a clearly
white racist family with a staunch extremist as leader of the family unit,
Richard's affection was, if nothing else, unhuman. Steadfast by nature, Marilyn
responded Richard's risk with a relentless love and dedication.
Through this book many characters are presented
that significantly affect Brittany's life, from her departed siblings to her
inconvenience occupant at Ebony's Eyes home. The book begins off with Brittany
appearing to her parent's home to discover her dad has been killed. The main
individual home amid this fight is her mom and now late father. Since her mom
is black and her dad is white, promptly the fault is being put on her mom for
the murder. During the time Richard has not been the most adoring or minding
spouse to ordinary benchmarks. There has been physical and mental viciousness
curved to Marylyn from Richard throughout the years. The book then starts to
backpedal so as to clarify the hardships her dad had persisted throughout the
years since he was coupled to lady (black). He had experienced childhood in the
south amid the social liberties period, where blacks and whites were not
observed to be equivalent by any methods. Richard's dad was an outdated
supremacist disapproved of male, where in his mind he thought blacks and whites
ought to have no kind of communication.
