INSTRUCTIONS:
In this assigned paper, you will focus on the conception and implementation of activism and social protest of your chosen movement in relation to the development of the text you read (When They Call You A Terrorist or Stonewall). Your paper should draw on a central thesis statement bringing together your chosen social movement and the book you chose (either When they call you a terrorist or Stonewall). THIS IS NOT A BOOK REPORT. You should be developing meaningful analysis of the text and applying that analysis to a study of the social movement you are following. Choose any book regarding environmental change that you feel is impactful and has ground for a quality paper. Compare the development of your chosen movement to that of the movement that you read about within the book you read. How did they develop? How were they implemented? What different strategies were used and how were they responded to by the establishment? What are/ were the major demonstrations or historical moments of the protest movement? And what made these moments in time significant? Engaging at least five (5) new class terms, investigate the rhetoric of your chosen current activism group, contextualize it in within a historical background, and provide two outside scholarly sources to support your assessment of this group’s effectiveness. You must site a minimum of 6 sources, drawing from course readings and including the two outside scholarly sources. Graded for strength of argument, clear support from class readings, specificity of observation, quality of outside source. 7-8 pages, typed, standard font and margins. Due via Turn It In link on Bboard. All Sources must be sited using APA format. See Owl Purdue APA. Reference page is not included in the page count.
