Case study 1 Mrs A.D I'm here because I've got an awful cough, a fever, and my chest feels like I've been kicked by a horse. I'm sure this is some kind of upper respiratory infection. I was hoping it would go away on its own, but it hasn't, so my husband Jeffrey convinced me to come in. As amusing as it is for Jeffrey to serve me my meals, this has gone on long enough. I need to feel better?  have some chest pain. It's more of a deep, dull pain, really. It's more or less constant, but gets more severe when I cough. This started three days ago. The cough and congestion began when the chest pain did, but I didn't start coughing anything up until two days ago Would you prescribe any medications at this time, Why or why not? If so, what? What would be the choice for second-line therapy? What are the parameters for monitoring success of the therapy? Discuss specific patient education based on the prescribed therapy.
