After reading Text #2, Dorm Room Dealers: Drugs and the Privileges of Race and Class: Summarize each of the seven chapters in sufficient detail that demonstrates that you have read the book. List and explain five new facts that you learned about race, class and drug offending from reading the text.  Be sure to identify the page numbers where the information was found. Give your opinion, based on the reading of the text, and information that you have learned throughout the course, whether drug possession and use should be legalized or decriminalized. Be sure to distinguish between the two (legalization and decriminalization). Discuss whether your opinion differs based on the type of drug; and, if so, explain why. Be sure to provide support for your opinion from information in the text and specific knowledge that you have gained throughout the course. Remember to properly cite your supporting evidence using APA referencing format.  Opinions without supporting evidence from the text and other course material will not earn points.  Your responses to items 1 and 2 will each be weighed as roughly 40% of the grade. Your response to item 3 will count towards roughly 20%.  ** After reading Text 2, students must prepare a written summary that reflects that they have read and understood its content. The summary must be followed by a critique that discusses how the research findings in the text compare to popular understandings of drug offending and drug dealing (particularly with regard to race, class, gender and their intersections).
