Positive Psychology Research Paper
When faced with an unusual circumstance, for example,
where a significant number of people have voted for or against an issue, it
becomes challenging for a person to make a decision. In a murder trial, 11 of
my colleagues were in concession while I was the odd one out since I remained
unconvinced on the guilty status of the accused. I was not sure whether the
defendant was guilty or innocent. I realized that using positive psychology; I
could analyze both the positive and negative side of my standpoint.
Standing on my ground was appropriate as it helped me
to foster my positive emotions, including contentment with prospects. According
to Lomas and Ivtzan (2016), positive emotions refer to the elimination of negativity,
such as self-doubt in a decision. Not supporting the resolution of my
colleagues evoked the feeling of joy and contentment as I stood by what I was

sure if the defendant committed the crime or not.
I was correct to support my decision since it allowed
me to experience the benefits of my positive individual traits such as wisdom,
self-knowledge and courage. Donaldson, Dollwet, and Rao (2015) postulated that own
affirmative mannerisms emphasize that negative life situations act as the most

circumstances. Through positive psychology, I realized the strength of my
individualities such as self-belief, compassion, gratitude, happiness, and so
on that assisted me in understanding how to flourish and appreciate the
opposing decision of my colleagues.
I made an informed judgment to support my vote since it permitted me to appreciate the importance of social institutions and create a better community through leadership, civility, responsibility and justice. According to Pawelski (2016), positive institutions highlight significant factors that sustain the development and growth of people and communities. Supporting my vote allowed me to exhibit the qualities of a leader as I did not commit to making an informed decision....
