Drug pricing policy is a current health issue that has gained attention in the United States health sector. According to the Center for Disease Control, drug price made a drastic shift in the year 2013 increasing in more than eightfold making more than 72 percent of the Americans to feel that the drug prices are too high.   High prices of the drug in America has been witnessed due to government protection of the monopoly that prohibits active competition.

This policy is relevant to me and the rest of population as it stipulates the cost of accessing the health service. Most of the American low-income earners will benefit if this policy is amended to enable them to access prescribed drugs at an affordable price. Increased price control should assure the citizens that Medicaid, Medicare, and other public health programs use an array to evaluate the cost and benefit of new drugs entering the market (Longest, 2015).
