A leaders is a person with ability to influence performance through the use of diplomatic techniques such as negotiating with followers, ruling by example, and availing high level motivation to team members. As a student in the Finance major, my main leadership opportunity was in 2018 when I organized a group of peers to clean the school’s neighborhood. The club’s was Social Responsibility Club. My main role was to control funds contributed by my peers towards facilitating the purchase of garbage collection bins protective gears. Additionally, I was the program leaders since I had a good understanding of the regions which deserved our attention in and outside of the college compounds. Besides my colleagues at school, community members were also my followers because they were pleased with the missing of the club. In total, I was engaged with 13 classmates and about 20 non-students who normally joined use during key meetings and cleanup activities. The major diversity amongst my followers was that some were students while other were residence of the school’s neighborhood. This difference also signifies that there was a huge age different between my followers.

Servant leadership is a highly applauded approach on engaging people, and is applicable when leading people who do not expect financial befits from the engagement. Hartley and Benington (2010) believe that servant leaders goes beyond accomplishing tasks to ensure each participants a sense of purpose and growth. Additionally, according to McCleskey (2014), key attributes of a servant leaders entail awareness, stewardship, ability to listen, and more so, being empathetic. The key benefit of being a servant is the potential of making people show extra commitment since they understand the program is geared towards bettering their person. A leaders should be in the front line so that he/she can identify opportunities and risks that may befall the operations (Landis, Hill, & Harvey, 2014).

During my interacting with my servants, I portrayed some key features a servant leaders such as leading by example and listening ability. My team was thrilled to note my commitment is leading when they were always fascinate to see me carrying a bloom are we strived to make our environment clear. Furthermore, I demonstrated the qualities of a servant leader by during meetings which were held on weekends. I was always the first to arrive at the venue and clean up seats before other member arrive. Additionally, as a leader it took a personal responsibility to buying beverages for my group demonstrating my empathetic leadership quality. However, I did not demonstrate high level of awareness during the program since I relied on other leader in the team to liaise with school authority to ensure our activities were recognized and allowed.
