Thesis statement: The medical industry has rapidly grown, leading to the adaption of emerging technologies to facilitate service delivery and quality. One such highly adopted technology is the 3D Printing. Like any other sector, the medical industry has significantly inclined towards technology to reduce cost, speed practices, and, most importantly, ensure patient safety. Bernard (2019) defines 3D Printing as an emerging medical technology used mainly to create dentures and develop casts suited for a specific purpose for different users. I think this technology has a lot to offer for the medical industry, mainly in solving bone fractures, surgeries, and related medical complications. Additionally, I think it is fascinating the 3D Printing can facilitate the creation of multidimensional models of a patient and simulate different scenarios. However, the application of 3D Printing in contemporary medicine has not been without its fair share of ethical advantages and criticism. Some of the pro ethical issues are that 3D Printing enhances surgery accuracy and allows patients to have second to near normal life; however, there are con ethical aspects that the technology is not eco-friendly and raises the ethical issues of human modification. | |
