INSTRUCTIONS:
I need a scholarly article discussing the native populations in/around the Amur river basin and today's Sino-Russian Border in the East. 1st Reference to consult is "Beyond the Steppe Frontier: A history of the Sino-Russian Border" by Soren Urbansky. How were the populations integrated into the national identities and societies we see today. How did the Russian cossacks interact with these populations during Russian expansion? How did the Chinese/Qing interact with these populations historically before the arrival of the Russians? How did the Russians see these populations following establishing borders with the Qing? Feel free to organize it how you see fit. Ultimately I'm interested in a paper discussing 1- The living situation of these groups, and their cultural ethnic identities. 2- How the Qing treated them prior to the arrival of the Russians 2- How Russian Imperialism sought to integrate, employ, or displace them into the empire during the expansion period. 3- How Sino-Russian wars resulting in the treaty of Nerchinksk and Peking altered the border and affected the populations therein. 4- What is the demographic makeup of The Primorsky Krai and Khabarovsk Krai today? What happened to those populations?
