At times, merely giving a paycheck for the employee may not be enough as an incentive to make the employees commit more effort to driving the organization’s strategic agenda. For this reason, motivation and rewards must be factored in by the organizations in the efforts of maintaining a happy workforce, and at the same time, reducing the rate of employees’ turnover. According to Corbett (2015), motivation can be intrinsic or extrinsic. Intrinsic motivation comes from within the employees as a force that compels them to perform. Apparently, this type of motivation is not triggered by the financial benefits, but they rely on internal factors that are triggering the employee to perform. The motivation of this kind may include; employees interest in the field of work, skills and competence, and the personal growth goals and aspirations. On the other hand, extrinsic motivation is based on the external factors that compel a human being to perform. These factors may include decent pay, right working environment, and an excellent leadership within the place of work.
