(Miller and Sabir, 2012). For that reason, firms offering media services, for
example, Al Jazeera, BBC among others are faced with the immense responsibility
of bringing concrete and objective information to the general public.
Therefore, in comparison most of the media outlets while reporting political
violence; the reports of violence do not match the actual rates of violence,
for example, both CNN and Al Jazeera covered the post-election violence in
Kenya were what they reported differed from the reports of local media outlets in
Kenya. Additionally, the disproportionate coverage of particular types of
political violence victims results to the public associating violence with
minority status in the society. Consequently, the pattern of reporting
political violence differs due to the resources allocated to media services or
the political bureaucracy that suppress exclusive coverage on violence.
