For this essay, apply McAdams’ notion of life story themes: Provide an analysis of the dominant life story themes of any two of the prisoners in Bryan Stevenson’s Just Mercy, and make an argument for how their themes differ (if you think they do) or an argument for how their themes are similar (if you think they are). GUIDELINES In applying McAdams’ life story themes: define and explain them concisely but in sufficient detail so that an educated reader unfamiliar with them can follow your argument; show how they derive from his general theory of personality; and demonstrate how they apply and make sense of the characters’ lives and experience.
