INSTRUCTIONS:
“A macro perspective of Convention Tourism in Hong Kong and the future” Hong Kong has been traditionally resilient but the slow global economy, coronavirus and the political landscape are affecting the HKSAR’ MICE Industry. Neighboring countries in the region are also becoming increasingly competitive so how will this affect Hong Kong? In this project students will be expected to assume the perspective of an executive PCO: - 1. Provide an overview of the current convention tourism landscape in Hong Kong a. Provide a competitive review of the current MICE industry in Hong Kong 2. Forecast and document the impact of the economy and political climate on the MICE industry in Hong Kong a. Outline the threats to MICE in Hong Kong – both internal and external to the SAR (regional and international) b. Outline any opportunities c. Outline what MICE vendors / operators in the territory may do to remain competitive (what would you do / how could you advise them?) 3. Moreover, what measures can you propose to reduce the cost and expense incurred by vendors and participants in exhibitions? 4. What does the future hold for MICE in Hong Kong? What predictions do you have and what suggestions do you have for Hong Kong’s MICE improvement? Students are expected to demonstrate analytical ability and marks will be awarded for critical evaluation, research, creativity, realistic suggestions and use of theory. mages, pictures, attachments and tables/graphs to show data are encouraged.
