Legal marijuana is among the fast-paced industries in the United States, attracting considerable investments. However, its acceptance and usage remain divisive; in the United States, the federal law classifies it as a Class I controlled substance, meaning it has no recognized medical benefits, therefore making it illegal. In contrast, half of all states have legitimatized the use of cannabis sativa for either recreational or medical reasons. Americans support the legalization of weed since it enhances patients' quality of life and acts as a source of revenue; however, arguments from opposition include concerns regarding clinical data and police regulation.

Clinical data indicate that marijuana enhances a patient's quality of life; hence, federal law should legalize its usage for medical purposes. Examining scientific studies authorized by the Food and Drug Administration, Ryan and Ammerman (2017) opined that collected evidence demonstrates the positive benefits of cannabis use.
