If I were to choose a less severe crime and eliminate it, I would go for shoplifting among teenagers. According to Natapoff (2015), shoplifting can be considered a misdemeanour that is usually prevalent among the younger population. Apparently, teenagers engage in this vice perceiving as a joke or a less heinous act that they believe can easily be forgiven when caught. However, in the concepts of law, shoplifting is punishable and aimed at deterring members of society from wanting to take things and failing to pay for them from markets and shops. 

Misdemeanour of shoplifting among the younger generation constitutes taking small things such as chocolates, candies, among other things, mainly snacks from shopping outlets. In the confines of laws, customers should take things from a shop or market and pay for them, failure to which constitutes to theft, but this theft is classified based on the number of commodities stolen, value, and the motive of such perpetrators.
