The administrative expertise and experience of learning institutions such as secondary schools rests with the principal.  Therefore, Mr. Michael, the principal Mountain View secondary school for 20 years, was interviewed by asking questions geared towards exploring his capacity to build productive relationships, leadership skills, job knowledge, and operational management skills. What do you take as your core responsibility as a principle of Mountain View secondary school?

As a principal of this school, it is my prime responsibility to supervise the teaching taking place in the institution. I am responsible for implementing the curriculum, which is the foundation of what the students are expected to learn while in school. I admit that single-handedly I cannot develop the school curriculum, but I assume a leadership role in curriculum development and implementation. For my school, I give guidance to the teachers to ensure that their teachings are within the school’s curriculum.
