Intervention program applicable to a particular setting and population

Majority of the late adolescents aged around 20 years are often exposed to events that threaten their lives and safety or the lives of the people around them. Trauma-related occurrences are stressful and possess a significant effect on the emotional well-being of the individual affected (Hazen et al., 2011). Late adolescents are susceptible to some traumatic occurrences that relate to things such as diet, exercise, social activities, and so on. In most cases the trauma events that affect late adolescents are things that are different to anything that they have experienced before on previous occasions; therefore, they often find it hard understanding such situations. Instances of traumatic experiences leave the affected individuals asking questions concerning their control over their lives as well as safety. Late adolescents with trauma experiences often find it hard dealing with these feelings because around their age they are engaged in other changes regarding their personal lives such educational and relationship issues.

Discussions on trauma interventions

The primary challenge facing the efforts of identifying and diagnosing trauma occurrences in late adolescents is affected by the increase in clinical problems. Interventions tailored to aid individuals affected by trauma experiences are designed to meet the needs of those diagnosed by providing prevention or treatment measures. These measures exist within the various domains of therapies for example combined therapies, complementary and alternative treatments, pharmacotherapy, psychotherapy, and so on. According to Uddin et al. (2010), the provision of both treatment and prevention intervention measures of trauma occurrence provides a comprehensive view of the effects they have on the affected individuals. Most of the available interventions focus on the prevention of the stress symptoms concerning the realities of trauma while others focus on the prevention or treatment of the emancipated symptoms and still others concentrates exclusively on the treatment of the diagnosed symptoms.

Besides, for late adolescents exposed to cases of trauma, but are yet to depict any symptoms the intervention measures provided are focused towards preventing the development of traumatic stress symptoms (Kaminer, & Eagle, 2010). For those late adolescents already experiencing the traumatic stress symptoms, treatment is intended towards mitigating the trauma symptoms, by remitting them thereby improving functionality.  Interventions on trauma patients can be carried out on all levels that include group, family or individual. Hazen et al. (2011) assert that treatment measures for trauma symptoms can be delivered in different settings in any given social environment. However, the ability to personalize treatment programs has resulted in late adolescents diagnosed with trauma gaining access to psychotherapeutic techniques at the comfort of their homes. In such a situation, the training accorded to the affected late adolescents is entirely different from the overall techniques used in the provision of psychotherapy.

The significance of prevention and treatment trauma interventions is targeted towards enhancing the quality of life of the individuals affected. To support this assertion, Kaminer and Eagle (2010) argue that treatment and prevention interventions for traumatic stress symptoms also focus on mitigating the effects of delinquency or aggression. Given the growing concern of exploring trauma experiences, scientists have developed community-based approaches that can be used to combat the effects of trauma among...
