Interventions and Treatment Planning The purpose of this assignment is to provide you with an understanding of a treatment approach or intervention that can be used with an older adult with a mental health or substance use concern. Choose an intervention that you believe would help older adult clients. In this assignment, you will demonstrate your competency in critical thinking and your professional role in researching an intervention or treatment approach and applying it to a client. Assignment Rubric This paper is due Day 7 of Week 7. Length: 5-6 pages. Assignment Details Choose a topic below or one that is not here but is suitable for an older client. Treatments/Interventions: Cognitive-behavioral therapy Interpersonal therapy Recovery support Group work SBIRT QPR Psychosocial rehabilitation Reminiscence Life review 1) Describe an Intervention or Treatment Method that Is Appropriate in Working with Older Adults (no more than 1-2 pages double-spaced).  Describe the intervention/treatment method you have selected in terms of its components and key techniques. Name the groups or problems for which it is most often used. 2) Cite the Research (no more than 2 pages double-spaced). Briefly summarize the research and explain why we should have confidence that this method is effective and for what populations. What do they say about effectiveness, for whom and for what behaviors? 3) Apply the Treatment Method with a Client, (no more than 2 pages double-spaced). Demonstrate how you would apply this model in working with an older adult client in a typical human service setting. Give only one or two sentences to describe the client initially. Show how you would apply this with a client.  Include some sample dialogue to show that you understand how the method can be applied. Explain how you took into consideration factors such as race/ethnicity, cultural background, gender, etc. Use at least 3-5 scholarly articles that give clinical detail to back up your rationale for using this particular method with this kind of client. Demonstrate that you have integrated learning from the lectures, live classroom, and readings. Your choice of a topic should be discussed with your facilitator.
