            Interpersonal communication can be defined as the basic communication involving two individuals. Therefore, engaging in interpersonal communication can be likened to dyads; that is communication between two individuals. Additionally, it may also refer to the communication involving a small group of people, for instance, roommates (Levine, 2014). However, it should be noted that the definition of interpersonal communication is simply not quantitative but qualitative, cannot be determined by the number of people involved. On the other hand, interpersonal communication incorporates self-disclosure that is characterized by an individual's revealing information to others that is not known by them. For example, if a person reveals "I am a boxer" is an example of self-disclosure because this kind of information is not evident to others unless they are told. Further, self-disclosure ranges from safe topics to more personal topics. Furthermore, interpersonal communication involves relational dialectics that gives a better understanding of relationships. Relational dialectics incorporates three pillars: novelty-predictability, openness-closedness, and autonomy-connection that make it easy for one to understand how relationships work. Thus, in order to manage dialectics tension in relationships, those involved should, neutralize, separate, segment and reframe.
