Drugs in our society are the major issue of contention in the contemporary world that has gained traction from various stakeholders such as lawmakers, religious centers, and pressure group. In a societal perspective, drugs are perceived a source of evil and a primary impendent of peaceful coexistence among community members. A drug is considered to have been abused when the user does not follow the prescription, takes an illegal substance, or engage in the sale of prohibited drugs that leads to both national and international crimes. Illicit drugs present a higher cost to the society; therefore, the practice should not be legalized.

Drug use poses a significant adverse effect on the livelihood of most members of our societies, mostly the youths. As a result, the government should strive at ensuring policies are in place to regulate and use and application of medical drugs and at the same time banning the use of illegal drugs.
