Using the color codes provided, evaluate your draft as follows:

  • Use green text to indicate the topic sentence of each body paragraph.

PART 2: Questions

1. What is the significance of your essay? Why should readers care about what you have written? (2-3 sentences) Sophia says: Think about why you decided to analyze this particular image, or why you picked the word you chose to define. Your interest in in your subject matter should be clear to readers.

2. Which areas of your draft do you think will benefit most from revision? (2-3 sentences) Sophia says: Consider the organization, style, focus, development, and conventions of your draft. Which areas did you struggle to complete?

3. Consider the strengths and weaknesses of your writing. How can you capitalize on your strengths and improve on your weaknesses in future essays? (3-4 sentences) Sophia says: Think about what was easy about writing the draft, and what was more difficult. For example, if you write paragraphs with strong topic sentences, but repeatedly use the same type of sentence to provide supporting details, you can improve your paragraphs by varying sentence structure.

Informative Essay: Courage

Feeling afraid from time to time is a common occurrence. In an attempt to accomplish a task, putting dears aside may be difficult. It is also worthy of understanding that fear is inevitable to become courageous. Courage may be hard to exist as a single entity without the concept of fear. Courage is a mindset that one has to take when faced with a challenge that could be difficult or pose a danger (Miller, 2002). Some of the dangerous tasks that would need courage include driving in extremely difficult terrain or being a soldier on a battlefield. Also, one may have to use courage in another incidence that is not dangerous but fearful, like climbing a flight. Courage needs one to face a task instead of withdrawing from it. This paper defines courage and how it is an essential value.

There are examples of courageous doings in every community. There are community heroes who help the people in large and small ways in everyday undertaking and do get the risk to their own lives; this is an act of courage. Courage can also be presented in a context where students present a project in front of a panel of supervisors; also, courage may be seen in nurses that handle COVID-19 patients in intensive care units.
