INSTRUCTIONS:
APA format, Times 12 font, double spaced, 4 pages in length STEP 1: Complete the NEO-PI via this link: http://www.personal.psu.edu/~j5j/IPIP/ipipneo300.htm and read through your results thoroughly. Make note of your initial feelings while reading your results. Do they appear consistent with what you know about yourself? Did anything surprise you? Use these notes as topics you’d like to include in the personal section of this paper (see below for requirements). STEP 2: SCIENTIFIC/ACADEMIC WRITING SECTION (2 1/2-3 pages) Choose two articles of interest from the list of personality reserves on blackboard (https://bbhosted.cuny.edu/webapps/blackboard/content/listContentEditable.jsp?content_id=_26226811_1&course_id=_1323790_1). First, I’d like an academic discussion and comparison/contrast of the key points addressed in the articles. Do not summarize the articles. This is scientific and academic writing, not opinion-based, therefore you are not using personal pronouns here (no ‘I’, ‘we’, ‘I think,’ statements). Major findings? Do the articles contradict one another? How do the articles relate to each other or to Psychology/Human Relations field? What is insightful about the articles? What is compelling? Why is this research important? Answer these questions and cite the two articles within your paper (when using quotes, paraphrasing, or referencing). Be sure to refer to APA guidelines while referencing, see help below). STEP 3: PERSONAL SECTION Discuss the results of your test very briefly. Discuss any insight, surprise, information, etc. that you gained as a result of taking the test. Finally, relate your NEO-PI results to either of the articles’ discussion in some way. As you were reading the article, did it bring about any thoughts related to your own personality, life, or goals? Discuss. Did the article give you insight into how you’d like to change your attitudes, values, relationships or beliefs? (1-1 1/2 pages)
