Teotihuacan was a remarkable ancient city of the
pre-Aztec era. The Aztecs discovered it in the 1400s, and at its height, it
supported an estimated population of over 100,000 people (Clendinen, 2003). Potential
visitors to the settlement can do, see and learn a lot about the Teotihuacan’s
influence, architecture, and religion.
Visitors to Teotihuacan can understand the city’s
influence to trade because its artifacts suggest that it was a significant
trade metropolis. For example, according to King (2000), it had a monopoly of
obsidian trade and exported tools such as dart heads and spears. Also, it traded
luxury ceramics because of their beautiful decorations. The artifacts and art
extended across Mesoamerica, underlined the influence of the city.
