Greatest threats to democracy in Canada

INSTRUCTIONS:

Using Canada as a reference, argue what you consider to be the greatest threats to democracy today.  You must choose the three you consider to be most pressing and argue that one of those is the most threatening.  In your answer you must define and deploy the following terms:   Democracy (representative, liberal, parliamentarian); democratic deficit; sovereignty; efficacy; tyranny of the majority; constitutionalism (charters/bills of rights, limiting government, supreme courts); fascism.   Here is list of the threats to democracy from which to choose your three:   Globalization Demagoguery Voter behaviour (apathy; efficacy, low turnout; etc.) Party politics Issues with representative democracy (disconnect between popular vote and the distribution of    power; apportionment (gerrymandering); election systems (FPTP, MMR; etc.). Rise of alternative political structures (Occupy/anarchy, First Nations/Indigenous; fascism/nationalism;   etc.) Money Legislative chicanery, e.g., The Fair Elections Act (Bill C-23) Wild card (your choice but you still have to include two of the others).   Technical requirements:   3 - 4 pages, single spaced, 12 font, standard margins.    Schedule:   Outline due end of Week 15
