Overview of Japan

Presently, the term “globalization” is used with increasing frequency. The utilization of this term has gained popularity in various contexts where it is used to describe the increasing degrees of communication and interaction across national boundaries. Notably, not only the economy of a country is impacted by globalization but also family life, culture and politics of all countries within its scope. Japan and the Japanese people have experienced the impacts of globalization. According to Grinspun (2012), Japan has a population of 127 million with the majority between the ages of 25-54 making about 37.5 per cent of the populous. During the 1970s and 80s; Japan positioned itself competitively on the global market due to the implementation of proper trading policies as well as the utilization of technical expertise (Oshiba, 2006). Nonetheless, at the end of the 1980s towards the 21^st century, Japan faced economic and cultural challenges such as deflation and economic stagnation.  This paper-based essay focuses on the dimensions paradigm, impacts of globalization as well as key macro-actions of Japan.

Globalization is categorized into three different vital aspects; economic, political and cultural (Grinspun, 2012). The economic dimension highlights the integration of global economies and the flow of trade across national boundaries. In Japan, economic globalization underlines the most significant changes that took place after most of the worlds’ economies got integrated into the global economy. The IMF and World Bank are credited to have been behind these economic changes that significantly increased the movement of capital between different national boundaries and the establishment of multinationals (Oshiba, 2006). The social aspect of globalization focuses on the exchanges regarding social and culture. Due to globalization, the Japanese people have been culturally assimilated resulting in them adapting to new cultures as a result of increased interaction with other global economies. Finally, the political dimension aims at the exchange of political contacts across national boundaries. The process of globalization resulted in the Japanese political system becoming more aware of the significance of supporting the maintenance of international relations with other economies.
