DISCUSS THE HISTORY OF THE DEFINITION AND THE GENOCIDE CASES ON WHICH IT IS BASED. WHAT SUBJECTS ARE INCLUDED AND EXCLUDED FROM THE DEFINITION? YOUR ANSWER SHOULD COMPARE THE APPLICATION OF THE DEFINITION TO OTHER GENOCIDE CASES. FINALLY, COMPARE THE LEGAL DEFINITION WITH SOCIAL SCIENCE APPROACHES TO THE STUDY OF GENOCIDE. INCLUDE IN YOUR ANSWER THE ISSUES AND PROBLEMS IN UNDERSTANDING HUMAN RIGHTS CONCERNING GENOCIDE.   WHY AND HOW ARE WOMEN, MINORITIES AND INDIGENOUS PEOPLE MORE VULNERABLE TO BEING GENOCIDE VICTIMS?      DO YOU THINK GENOCIDE IS THE PRODUCT OF A MODERN IDEA AND THE MODERN NATION-STATE OR CAN WE SAY THAT GENOCIDE WAS PRESENT IN ANCIENT TIMES? DISCUSS WHAT IS AT STAKE IN BELIEVING THAT GENOCIDE IS MODERN OR ANCIENT. DRAW ON SPECIFIC COURSE READINGS AND CLASS DISCUSSIONS TO SUPPORT YOUR ARGUMENT.
