FDR and the Effects of the New Deal

Upon the beginning of the Great Depression, in 1929, the United States needed measures that could rebuild the nation's economic structure. The economic crises emanated from the crash of the American stock market, which pulled down the gross domestic products with an index of 29%. During the same period, the level of unemployment in different states increased from 3.2% to 25.5%.  These economic implications lead to increased closure of businesses in different states, and people started looking for avenues to remedy the situation. It was during these tractions that Franklin D. Roosevelt, in his campaigns for the presidency of the United States, promised people a new deal when he became their leader (Presidential Library and Museum). The New Deal, as noted by The New Deal Documentary (2013), entailed several programs and projects that were promised as a result of the devastating effects of the Great Depression.
