Cover Page (in APA style) Title of the article, journal information Your name and date Analysis of Research 1.  The Problem/hypothesis (1-2 paragraphs) Is the problem/hypothesis clearly stated? Is the problem practically important (application to the world)? According to the author what is the purpose of the study (why did they conduct the research)? Where did they get the idea for the research? Are the key terms defined?  (operational definitions?) What is the hypothesis? 2. Review of Literature (1-2 paragraphs) Are the cited sources pertinent to the study? (do the resources relate to the research?) Is the review too broad or too narrow? Are the references recent? (less than 10 years old) Is there any evidence of bias? 3. Design and procedures (1-2 paragraphs) What type of research is this? (descriptive, experimental etc.) What research methodology was used? (double blind, case study) Was it a replica study or an original study? What measurement tools were used?  (self-report, survey) How were the procedures structured? What are the variables? independent, dependent, confounding, extraneous How was sampling performed? 4. Data Analysis and conclusions (1-2 paragraphs) How was data analyzed? Was data qualitative or quantitative? Did findings support the hypothesis and purpose? Were weaknesses in the way the data was analyzed? Are the conclusions of the study related to the original purpose? Were the implications of the research discussed? Whom the results and conclusions will effect? What recommendations were made at the conclusion? 5. Assessment of Research (Conclusion) The purpose of the overall assessment is to provide an “editorial” of the research; this is the critical thinking aspect of the paper.  After taking apart all of the aspects of the research how do you think it could have been improved, remember there is always something we can improve on.  This should be written in paragraph format and is not limited to the questions that I have listed, these are just a few questions to get you thinking What is your overall assessment of the research study? Was this valid research? What do you think should be done differently? Was the population too small or too large?  If so how could this change the results? Was there any aspect of potential bias? How beneficial do you think the research was? Why? 6.Works Cited/ Reference page You must include proper citation for the research study that you analyzed.  Failure to include proper citation will result in a grade of “0” as this is a form of plagiarism.
