INSTRUCTIONS:
o 4-6 full pages and a reference page o Use material from at least four chapters/time periods (minimum of 4 artifact need to be used) ALL CHAPTER ARTIFACTS TO CHOOSE FROM ARE ATTACHED IN DOCUMENT o Refer to at least four different cultures o Refer to at least 3 different genres of artifacts, if possible In the final analysis paper, you will look back over the semester and explain the evolution of your theme as it has been expressed in the artifacts we have studied. 1. Begin with your definition of your theme (not dictionary.com, not Websters, any other resources, etc.). 2. Using at least four artifacts previously analyzed, explain how your theme has evolved over the time-span we have covered in class. Include at least four previously used artifacts. As with your weekly analyses, think about the way that your theme has manifested itself literally and figuratively. Are there certain examples of artifacts that show a specific evolution? Are there differences or similarities found in the theme within genres of artifacts? 3. Hypothesize about where your theme is evolving to: what might be manifestations of your theme in 100-400 years in the future? Why are you seeing these changes in your theme? What is causing these changes to happen, based on what is happening in the surrounding culture? How is your theme manifesting in the 21st century and what is a modern day artifact that reflects your theme? 4. Conclude with explaining the larger takeaways about your theme’s evolution. Remember that there is no right or wrong answer here. This assignment is personal and individual. Defend your thoughts and thoroughly explain that way that you see things so I can understand your point of view and your thought process. Continue to ask yourself why and how these changes are happening as your theme evolves. If you don’t see your theme evolving, give an explanation for why that is the case, showing examples of how the theme has stayed the same. Don’t just repeat what you described in the original analyses! I need to be able to see why your theme is evolving (this is where context for the time period is important). Please remember to use correct paper conventions: minimum of 4 FULL pages (one line of a page does not count as a full page, not does a title page or a ), 1” margins, size 12-font, Times New Roman font, double spaced, proper header (not double spaced), proper spelling and grammar (please proof-read!) conventions.
