INSTRUCTIONS:
Type a 10-15 page paper (10-15 full pages of text, double-spaced) reflecting on the content of the course. Extensive references should be made to the ethical codes (unit 1) and all other textbooks without using block quotes (quotes more than 40 words). The paper should include these topics: How the student’s personal life interacts with counseling ethics. How the Christian Worldview interacts with professional ethics. How the student will carry out self-care as he or she practices counseling. Specify what ethical issues may be challenging for the student and how he or she might deal with these issues in future counseling practice. Address the Professional Dispositions (see Unit 1) and how professionalism plays a vital role as a graduate student. Articulate how developing a counseling style relates to ethical practice (review Chapter 10 of Corey’s text) Identify ways that the student will conduct risk management in his or her future practice (include information about HIPAA and reference Doverspike’s textbook). Include at least a page on the specifics of the Family Code and its importance to the counseling practice (see Unit 3 Activities for link to Family Codes). Discuss the role and value of supervision. Include TX (or the state you will practice) LPC or LMFT rules related to supervision during practicum and postgraduate 3,000 hours). The above information should be synthesized into coherent paragraphs instead of using a question/answer format. Make sure to include an introduction and conclusion. Paper will include title and reference pages, which do not count towards the page requirement. All papers are to follow APA style and format. You may use first person. Direct quotations limited to three. The use of more than three direct quotes (under 40 words) will result in a 5-point penalty. Grammar and mechanics will also be graded. No late work permitted.
