For this essay, you are going to choose one chapter of Emerson’s “Nature” and write a response essay where you analyze the main ideas in that section and how it relates to the essay as a whole. In this essay, you’ll break down the argument of the chapter, using quotes from the reading, and write about how that section fits into Emerson’s overall argument of the essay. For example, you could choose the chapter on “Beauty” and write about Emerson’s definition of beauty and how his definition relates to his discussion of the uses of nature in general.
