Eliciting Prior Knowledge

INSTRUCTIONS:

It is really interesting to consider prior knowledge in that it can either help or hinder. Of course, how would the educator know if that prior knowledge isn't engaged. What are your thoughts on strategies and techniques for eliciting prior knowledge from students? I am particularly thinking about the brain tendencies of need to know and the issue of risking disclosing insufficient prior knowledge. Thoughts on how we handle eliciting prior knowledge and psychological safety?
