INSTRUCTIONS:
Getting Started: Sometimes we have an idea or concept in our minds that makes sense to us, but when we try to explain it to others, it is difficult to come up with the words to accurately convey our own thoughts. This assignment will help you practice your ability to convey your thoughts and ideas clearly and concisely, so that others are able to quickly and easily understand you. Background Information: It is important to be able to create elevator speeches that are effective, concise, and persuasive. The applied research project is intended to demonstrate your understanding of the material in your degree program, but also to use that knowledge to recommend solutions for the problem you have chosen. In order for the organization to consider the solution(s) that you recommend, it needs to be presented in a concise way that is persuasive and quickly demonstrates the benefits of implementing the solution(s). In larger companies, it can be difficult to get a meeting or even have someone with decision-making power review the material. So, given the opportunity, it is necessary for the material to captivate the reader or listener. Instructions: Assume you are in an elevator with a key executive of the organization. You have a few minutes to pitch the problem in the organization and your desire to research the problem. In 250 words, prepare your elevator pitch to the executive. Your pitch should concisely explain the problem in the organization and why you have chosen to research the problem.
