Leadership and management are two key concepts used by organizations for controlling, staffing, hiring, and motivating employees. In the process of gaining a competitive advantage, businesses look for managers who can effectively apply the elements of leadership in the work environment. High market competition in enterprise-environment has compelled companies to change their management styles and adopt ways that are better to the employees and at the same time, which can ensure customers are happy on how they are served. Besides, several changes such as the need to reducing operational cost, improving products and service quality, and delivering customers’ demands on time has revolutionized how leadership and management principles are incorporate in an organization. Personally, in my working environment, I can apply elements such as supervision, emotional intelligence, and collaboration to ensure effective flow of operations leading to increased productivity.

First, I can rely on the element of supervision in ensuring operations are carried in the right way at my work place. I can apply the aspect of delegation to oversee the operations within the working environment. In most cases, staff are talented in different fields and understanding various capability will enable me to ensure work is done by the right people to improve on quality and reduce time wastage. To achieve this objective, a delegation will entail assigning duties to the most suitable employees at the workplace. Secondly, the concept of autonomy is vital in a work environment. I can use it to ensure my staff members are given a chance to air their contribution, enhance self-growth, and feel being a part of the organization.

Secondly, the element of Emotional intelligence entails understanding the social and cultural issues affecting the contribution of staffs towards the achievement of the firm’s objective. First, I can ensure employees are motivated; which goes beyond providing them with high pays. I can promote a good working environment by ensuring employees are respected, work in conducive offices, and giving them gifts and bonus for good performance. Secondly, I can apply the element of emotional intelligence by ensuring my team is free from stress.
