INSTRUCTIONS:
One of the main jobs of historians is to interpret the past by reviewing primary documents, scholarly secondary sources, and then creating an analysis of this research. After reading your text and reviewing the assigned materials, submit a thesis-driven paper on the roles of Booker T. Washington and W.E.B. DuBois in the Early Civil Rights Movement. You might want to consider the following questions, but you are not limited to them: How were these men and their ideas similar? How were they different? What might have contributed to these similarities and differences? How did their strategies for black advancement, plans for education, and approaches to “race” relations differ? At the turn of the twentieth century, whose position represented the best hope for progress? This assignment should be 500 words in length. For full credit, your paper must not simply sum up the reading or repeat points made there. Rather, I am looking for you to create your own interpretation and discuss some original insight. Include Turabian-style citations as needed. Be sure to stay in third-person throughout the paper. Also, insure that you upload one of the approved SafeAssign file types, and click the SafeAssign box during the submission process. Failure to submit an approved file type or to submit the paper through the SafeAssign plagiarism checker will result in a zero for the assignment. Finally, there will be no individual extensions for any reason, and to discourage procrastination, I will not answer questions about the assignment on the day it is due. By submitting this paper, you agree: (1) that you are submitting your paper to be used and stored as part of the SafeAssign™ services in accordance with the Blackboard Privacy Policy; (2) that your institution may use your paper in accordance with your institution's policies; and (3) that your use of SafeAssign will be without recourse against Blackboard Inc. and its affiliates.
