INSTRUCTIONS:
The Dyslexia Pilot Project in Ohio- -Participants will research and evaluate an existing program. The purpose of this project is to consider systems level change and familiarize candidates with methods of analyzing large datasets. Final papers will review the literature base associated with the systemic intervention, present an analysis of the relevance of the project, and describe the program evaluation. Based on an analysis of need, participants will propose a program to address an academic (dyslexia) deficit at the systems level. -Answer the following questions. There can be headings with the question and specific details answering the question right under it (paragraph form). -See attachments and below link for additional research: http://education.ohio.gov/Topics/Special-Education/Students-with-Disabilities/Specific-Learning-Disability/Dyslexia-Pilot-Project 1. Describe the nature of the program. 2. Determine if the program is based on articulated goals and objectives. a. Is there a research base? b. Does the literature include measurable outcomes and other projects that serve as demonstrations of this approach? 3. Determine if there are data associated with previous iterations of the project. a. Have the data been aggregated? b. Are there demonstrable outcomes reporting on the success/failure of the project? c. Have the data been subjected to statistical analysis? d. Is there an identifiable and reasonable research design? Program Intervention 4. Has the intervention been described in an articulated manner? a. Is there a manual or directions that serves as a basis of training? b. Are there procedures to follow? 5. What is the service delivery model? a. Staff to student ratio b. Contact hours, contact per student, contact intensity ratio 6. Budget a. Has funds for the project been identified and set aside? b. Is the budget zero-based and/or adequate to meet project goals? 7. Is there training available for staff? a. New staff? b. Ongoing? 8. Are the providers supervised on a regular basis? a. Group meetings b. Individual observations c. In line with Program Goals and Objectives 9. Treatment integrity a. Validity: Is the intervention offered in a manner consistent with program goals and objectives as intended? b. Reliability: Is the intervention offered consistently to all participants? c. Intensity: Is the intervention offered with sufficient intensity and duration to meet program goals and objectives?
