Does the law do enough?
Letter to Editor
One
of the mandates of any government is to understand the composition of the
population of all citizens and know how to manage them towards providing
services such as education, development, and, most importantly, towards the
provision of health care services. However, the government cannot understand
vital aspects regarding citizens without instilling an essential mechanism of
data collection, analysis, and interpretation to make meaning of a massive pool
of information; that is where census comes in. As noted by Matsuno et al. (2018),
a census is a way of understanding population demography such as gender
composition, age composition, as well as the distribution of people in
different territorial regions. The purse of this letter is to pursue the editor
to see the researcher's point of view regarding the relationship between law
and census management, mainly based on lifespan's manager point of view to
answer the question “Does
the law do enough?”
Admissions and discharge into long-term care
populations follow a rigorous process that establishes the urgency and the
validity of reasons that may necessitate one to be taken under the care. In
this case, and as noted by Jones
et al. (2011), people can be admitted into care facilities under the following
three categories; to live independently, to be under the assisted living, and
to live under skilled nursing services. As a result of these divergent
categorizations, discharge can only be effected when a person has shown a high level
of independence and not under danger, based explicitly on medical and financial
parameters.
