Content of Chapter 7 (Pages 388 to
400).
In life, one of the essential
things that identify us as human beings is the type of friends that we interact
with. The number of friends has continually become less important as compared
to the quality of change that they can impact in one's life. Personally, I have
very few friends, but they mean a lot to me. The type of friends that are
chosen at school in social contexts helps me navigate the challenges of learning
and position me better for my future professional career.
The learning materials presented in
chapter 7 discuss several types of friends, each with their distinctive
characteristics in influencing one's life.
·
The first type of Reciprocal friends who have
the quality of commitment and want to do good for me.
·
The second class is the associative friends who
like having fun with me, but they are not really close and do not understand
many things about my life.
·
The third type is the receptive friends who are
only good to me what I can match their status. Differences in our societies are
imminent; low-class and high-class has also affected how people develop
relationships.
·
Fourth is friends with benefits, who only
benefit from me for what I can offer.
Discussion #6 Part 1
What do you think is ONE
important message in this video? Explain your answer. (200-word minimum)
The information
available in chapter 2 of the class reading material discusses the ideas of
race, sex, and gender and how they interlink in the highly diverse community.
Race, for example, is considered the key physical feature that makes people
have an appearance that is predominantly different from that of another person.
The problem comes in a community that does not foster diversity and inclusivity
and being tolerating enough to treat each person in a neighborhood as an equal.
This diversity extends to how people depict their sexuality, with the fear of
how the community will perceive them.
The video selected
for this discussion has a similar magnitude of concern in relation to how
racial divergence is perceived in the modern world. The beginning of the video
portrays a person daring and audience to indicate one single time when they
felt threatened by their children. This notion is associated win a perception
that some people, specifically from the black community, have a high affinity
to doing bad things in society. However, this has not always been the case
because some are as genuine as any other kid innocently born and brought in the
environment where he/she found his/her parents. Therefore, the need to treat
everyone in the community equally.
