a.      Four common leadership style

Autocratic Leadership

It is a top-down leadership style in which the management team sorely executes all decision-making activities. The top management managers make decisions and formulate policies without input from other members, then cascade the outcome to the operational team to perform their roles.

Pros

This leadership style is more efficient in the decision; there is no time wasted in consultation among many parties. The team remains consistent and cohesive because there is only one person in control. Every person clearly understands their role because it permits delegation of certain responsibilities, and the staff should remain within the assigned scope.

Cons

It hinders creativity because the top managers do not consult their juniors in decision-making. No diversity in thoughts since the decision-makers rely on their capability only.

Transactional

It allows short-term planning for particular activities like rewards of the best performing employees to motivate them. It enables the exchange of ideas between leaders and members.

Pros

It is the most effective in accomplishing a short-term objective.

It informs team members of the expected behavior and reward for compliance.

It provides structure and stability.

Cons

Limits innovation initiative and growth.

Not effective for individuals driven by intrinsic motivators.

It discourages the people looking for professional development opportunities.

Bureaucratic leadership

In this leadership style, a chain of command strict regulations emanates from the top manager downward.
