news reporting in The London Gazette’s
differs from the modern day news coverage concerning the level of simplicity
and precision of the language used. The language used is not easy to read,
therefore, a bit complicated. Modern news coverage is characterized by the use
of simple and precise language; these factors are considered as qualities of a
good newspaper (Roksvold, 108).
The
article in The London Gazette is
old-fashioned, direct in news reporting and tries to recount the event
objectively. However, the majority of the modern-day news coverage is labeled
analysis, despite providing the same necessary details as old news reporting. Roksvold
(104) opines that modern news coverage primarily focuses on contextualizing
events something that was ignored by the old news reporting.
