intersectional factors that affect Alike and her journey in the film Pariah?
The “Pariah” is a
family-based film which focuses on age as it discusses a particular slice of
common middle-class African American life, with a specific emphasis on women.
The film is based on feminism as it delineates modern day myths and more so,
the intersectional factors which affect women’s lives. The intersectional issue
is used to mean ways in which marginalized people in the society such as women,
homosexuals, and African Americans are treated by their immediate community
leading to facing of discrimination. Such people affected by the Intersectional
factors from the “Pariah” film is Alike.
First, Alike experiences partial split in her life. In one division, she is more open about her sexual orientation but does not get satisfaction since she has to bear with the fact that her sexual life is different from the general expectation in her community.
