INSTRUCTIONS:

Here you will enter your three-page , dialogue-driven, short story to the blog. The goal is to have it be a conversation, like "Hills Like White Elephants," between two characters with a conflict. This conflict can be whatever you imagine, and the relationship can be between any two people of your choice. Here are some questions to keep in mind while writing. ( not to answer )Does the story enter the conversation late?Does it keep dialogue tags simple or is there too many? What about descriptive beats? Is there enough or too much?Does each character sound distinct? Where? Where not?Jumping off that, Does the story develop character relationship? This we learn in the things they say and how they say it?Does the story show and not tell?Does the story bounce back and forth, or does one talk too long and too much?Read the story out loud. How does it sound? Clunky or awkward? Do the jokes not land quite right? Where? How can they improve it?Can any dialogue be removed? In other words, would narration be better at any moment? (think of the short narrative bits in "Hills Like White Elephants"
