INSTRUCTIONS:
As social workers, we must always be concerned with larger policy issues that impact our clients. One of the goals of diversity electives is to promote social change. Often, through our day-to-day work with service users, we are able to see policy issues in a way that those not in practice may not understand. Thus, it is continually important for our voices to be heard in the policy arena. It is also critical that we remain informed about larger contextual issues that impact our clients. For example, if we are working with an immigrant family that consists of mixed immigration statuses, we must understand how changes in immigration policy may impact their lives.
