Each candidate has laid out a platform - a series of statements on major issues that they think are economically, socially, or politically important. Underlying each of these “planks” (pieces of a platform) is a well-researched position.   For your third major essay, imagine that you are a policy advisor for a presidential candidate. You are tasked with compiling a well-researched, 1,000-1,250-word paper that argues in favor of a particular campaign position. goal is to argue your main point as persuasively as possible.   Your paper must do the following:   Clearly introduce the issue and present a concise, compelling argument about the issue in the form of a thesis statement; Support that thesis with a series of well-crafted, carefully-organized body paragraphs; Offer support drawn from scholarly research in each body paragraph; Accurately document that research using MLA in-text citations and a works cited page; 1.
