Who is the implied audience for this essay?
Esther Dyson tries
to address and catch the attention of many cyberspace users across the world,
most specifically those in the United States. Dyson tries to relate to the
implied audience by focusing on the aspects offered by cyberspace on a societal
setting. These features primarily constitute the ability and power of the user
to use the cyberspace without facing any regulations and restrictions. Further,
the author aims to address the harm the cyberspace poses on the society,
notably on children; however, Esther Dyson states that any regulations on the
usage of the internet are misplaced, as such they do not offer a solution for
regulating unapproved websites. Besides, the author targets to address that
portion of the world that needs to illustrate the parallels between the virtual
and the actual world by offering a proper description of the way communities
evolve.
