Cryptography and its implementation is a key component of security and there has been plentiful research into the subject in respect of design, analysis, implementation and modelling. For this exercise you are required to extend your knowledge and understanding in this subject area by carrying out literature-based research into an appropriate, relevant and timely topic of your choosing and write a short report on your findings. It is not expected that your research will necessarily be novel although originality will contribute to a high mark. I expect to see material which is well researched, critically analysed and supported by appropriate references. You should aim at producing a professional academic report, properly structured, well written and illustrated as appropriate. You will not secure high marks (and you might even fail this assignment) if you merely regurgitate module material from the lecture notes. You should aim at 15 or so good quality references. You are expected to produce a report of 2000-3000 words excluding references and tables. Topic: • Securing communication within the Internet of Things Cryptography is it available, where, and by who.
