INSTRUCTIONS:
A debate is an argumentative discussion in which two parties are talking over the same subject but with different opinions. Each party argues their stance as either in favor or against the discussion topic, supporting their arguments by giving various reasons and evidence. I have assigned a debate topic to each of you with a particular stance on the topic, either for or against. You will be responsible for submitting a 3-5 page paper by the deadline. The paper must include at least 3 arguments that will be used to support your side of the topic. The arguments should be in the form of journal articles, statistics, experts, videos, books, etc. The citation of the argument should be properly cited in either MLA or APA format. In closing the paper, you must present a summary of the arguments presented and include a sociological theory that applies to your topic. The theory should be presented in a way that explains how it relates to the topic and arguments. Most commonly students prefer to use functional, conflict or symbolic interactionist theory, but any theory discussed in the course may be used.
