The first case of coronavirus was discovered in late 2019. The virus is airborne and fast spreading across the globe. The COVID-19 has influenced the halt of several activities across the world, including learning and physical exercise. The pandemic's effect in enormous, and the best way to curtail the rapid spread of the virus is to maintain a social distance of one and a half meters between two individuals. To control the spread of the virus, the economy lockdown was considerably suitable that resulted in the closure of fitness and activity centres, business activities, community places and the overall social life. The closure of social life activity avenues hindered various aspects of human life, encompassing regular physical exercise activities for fitness purposes, which has occasioned several psychological issues, acute fitness and health concerns. This article aims to discuss COVID-19 and how the strategies adopted to control Corona Virus Disease have contributed to the deterioration of physical fitness among individuals worldwide. Quarantine and social distancing COVID-19 pandemic control measures have contributed adversely to physical fitness. Individual were restricted to their households such that they could not access physical activity workout centers. They contributed to the deterioration of their physical fitness because most people do not have work out facilities in their homes. Even the individuals performing physical activities cannot do it to it satisfactory due to the challenges of balancing between workout and home chores.
Statement of the Research Problem
This study is a detailed examination of the factors causing the deterioration of physical fitness and mental wellbeing among the general population members since the onset of COVID-19 in 2019.
