Comparing and Contrasting Two Readings: “The Coddling of the American Mind.” and “Where did our Ads Go?” College Campus Panics Over “Safe Spaces” are Completely Misguided

Learning spaces are some of the most controlled areas, mainly because they should enable learners to capture the actual sense of being in school. The nature of the environment in which students are exposed determines, to a greater extent, the nature of graduates who will be elevated into the labor market to facilitate social and economic development. While a significant number of education stakeholders advocate for 'safe spaces' for learners, others feel that the protection of the American students breeds anxiety and fear among the future generation. For example, constantly protecting students from the community's reality, such as instances of drug abuse, use of some words, and other aspects associated with learning can be problematic, mainly because they aim to live in the same repressive communities they are being protected from. However, the research identifies diversity in how learners react to different social aspects and issues they face in their lives.
